7 things working moms do to be more organized and less overwhelmed!
Are you feeling overwhelmed with all the work you have to do as a working mom?
Being a working mom is super daunting if you’re not organized. From handling household chores to keeping your mind straight at work; this task not only demands physical stability, but mental peace as well.
Let’s be real, we all have the same amount of time per day and yet the work goes on increasing daily. Whether you’re a 9-5 mom or stay-at-home mom; you are indeed tackling so many tasks in a single go.
If you’re struggling to get out of your home on time in the morning and get all your work done; this piece is for you.
Here’re some tips I use to stay sane and organized while working for my dreams as a mom:
1. Make a list of everything
If you’re like me who forgets everything, creating a list can be a total savior.
Start making lists of literally everything. I usually make a To-do list and the one for grocery because I seriously cannot afford to hit Target every now and then.
Stick your list somewhere you can see easily daily. I always prefer sticking my lists on the fridge so that the entire family knows what I’m up to.
2. Have fixed routines
If you’re not planned, you cannot be organized.
I always have a fixed morning and evening routine to stay on track, your routines may differ from mine but having one is so very important.
As a part of your evening routine, you can clean up and organize your kid’s things and clothes before bed and have some quick meal prep for the morning to avoid the fuss later.
The morning time is super peaceful and I would highly suggest sparing some time for your own self during those early hours.
I can totally understand if you cannot stick to a routine always but you surely can try to have a routine that works for you and your family.
3. Do a brain dump exercise
Sometimes, things don’t work our way and we as moms get super anxious about every single thing. The best way to bring back calm is to do some brain dumping exercise.
I usually prefer journaling my thoughts and let all my worries rest on paper. If you don’t have enough time for journaling regularly, try doing it twice or thrice a week. Just make sure that you don’t let those anxious feelings eat your peace away.
4. Set timers
Do you procrastinate much?
This is the best alternative to get your things done. Set the timer for all the tasks you dislike doing and do it with all your attention for around 10 minutes.
Setting a timer will enhance your speed and when you’re doing one thing at a time; you’re avoiding the confusion as well.
5. Declutter your home
I so love following minimalism when it comes to designing homes. We have so much stuff in all the cabinets and drawers that we hardly use or know about. Thus the best way to declutter is to clear them all up first.
Clean your home and get rid of everything that you don’t use. This will save a lot of your time and your home will look super clean and organized.
6. Plan your meals
If you’re someone like me, you would totally be spending half of your time thinking about what to cook next.
When everyone in the family has a different taste, it becomes super difficult to come up with the perfect dish that everyone enjoys. The key here is to start planning your meal well ahead of time. This way you will even keep track of the groceries in need and can get them on time. (and we aren’t make different meals for everyone, ha. nope)
7. Know that you’re doing enough
Sometimes even after doing all the work, we don’t quite appreciate ourselves. Make this a habit of being grateful for everything you’re capable of doing.
Know that you’re doing everything to keep your family happy and healthy. This feeling of being satisfied within will help you surpass all overwhelm and stress.
In the end, it indeed is not a easy to handle every single aspect of life while being a working mom but know that you’re doing the best you can.
I hope that these tips will help you in organizing your home and life without being hard on yourself.
