Motherhood is a rewarding experience but as much as we love it, we cannot deny how messy it can get at times. Think of the last time when you sat in peace with yourself without your kids calling you out or grabbing your attention?
Let’s be real, we all struggle with finding some quiet time away from home. However, I do feel guilty of not always wanting to be around my kids or family but you surely need some quality time for yourself. The biggest mistake we moms make is treating ourselves as some superwoman who doesn’t necessarily need any rest. To be honest, you are just a human being who needs rest and some ‘me time’ amongst this messy life.
If you’ve been struggling in finding some peaceful hours for yourself then you’ve landed on the right page.
Here are a few helpful tips that you can use to grab some quiet time.
1. Have your own Zen den or a quiet corner in your house
Having your own space where you don’t have to be a mom first, is always so relaxing. You can practice your morning routine, do your journaling work or spend some time with your own self in your Zen den.
I have a small reading nook in my home where I can just rest for a while along with having my favorite books by my side.
2. Go to the nearby park
During the warmer days, you can take your fixable chair, hat, sunglasses, and just take some mindful rest among the greens. Nothing feels as refreshing as spending some quality time in nature. But do not choose those gardens where they have swings for kids or children’s zones because it won’t be quiet. Take your favorite book and some drinks to keep you refreshed. You will notice the sudden shift in your mood when you’re back home.
3. Visit your favorite library
You can find some ‘Me Time’ in the library reading some trendy picks or listening to your favorite pods. I am always amazed by the company of books and it makes me super happy to have some quiet time while reading.
4. Have an early morning routine
The quietest time is the time when your kids are sleeping. Early mornings when the house is silent and your kids are fast asleep, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy your much needed ‘me time’. This can differ accordingly, while some of us hate early mornings, we can find some quiet time during the night after our kids’ bedtime routine. Include some refreshing activities in your morning hours to keep you pumped up for the rest of the day.
5. Unplug or social media detox
Sometimes our quiet time is eaten up by the noise of the digital world. We are always scrolling and grabbing some or other piece of information through social media. This leaves us feeling exhausted. It’s necessary to keep ourselves grounded and enjoy some peaceful time. Having a social media detox once a while has proved super beneficial for my mental health. There’s no more comparison or feeling of insecurity while watching someone’s life confined in squares.
Finding some quiet time with kids all around is really challenging. However, you always need some time off and it’s okay to seek that alone time. I hope that these tips help you in finding much needed ‘me time’ from your busy schedule of mom life and enjoy yourself in peace.
